President Prabowo Subianto ordered Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia to allow retailers to re-sell 3 kilograms (kg) of LPG gas, which was banned.
This order was conveyed by the Daily Chairperson of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, regarding the polemic on the prohibition of retailers from selling 3 kg LPG gas which makes it difficult for the community.
According to Dasco, after communicating with President Prabowo, this decision was taken to provide concessions for people who need melon gas.
"The president has instructed the ESDM to reactivate existing retailers for selling as usual, while the retailers will be used as sub-baselines. This is to regulate prices so that they are not expensive in the community," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 4.
Dasco explained that retailers who function as sub-basements will have a predetermined price so that 3 kg LPG gas remains affordable by the community.
In the instruction, retailers will act as sub-baselines with clear price rules. Even though the new regulations of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources are being drafted, retailers will still be asked to operate during the regulatory adjustment process.
"The retailer who becomes the sub-base will determine the price. Meanwhile, the ESDM rules are partially applied," said Dasco.
Although the policy to prohibit retailers from selling LPG melon gas does not come from the President, Dasco explained that the President intervened to see the conditions that developed in the community, and gave instructions so that retailers could return to selling.
"The president decided that retailers could sell again, while the administration and regulations regarding sub-basements were implemented in stages," said Dasco.

The deputy chairman of the DPR also emphasized that the 3 kg LPG gas stock did not experience scarcity, but needed price settings so that there was no price game at the retail level.
"Stok tidak langka, stok terkonfirmasi ada. Hanya saja regulasinya perlu disesuaikasi untuk memastikan harga sampai ke masyarakat tidak terlalu mahal," ujar Dasco.
