Minister Of Law And Human Rights Supratman Calls Ole Romeny, Teams Geypens And Dion Mark Will Be Ensured To Become Indonesian Citizens In Early February

JAKARTA Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas said that the Oxford United striker, Ole Romeny, will be sworn in as an Indonesian citizen (WNI) on February 8, 2025.

He explained that Ole Romeny's naturalization process is still ongoing and is expected to be completed soon, especially in the final stages at the House of Representatives (DPR).

"But the schedule in question will be taken on February 8," Supratman said when met after a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 29.

Apart from Ole Romeny, Supratman also revealed that two naturalized U-20 players, Team Geypens and Dion Mark, will be sworn in on the same day.

The Minister of Law and Human Rights emphasized his commitment to supporting the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) in this naturalization process. "The hope of the Indonesian people to appear in the World Cup is a fixed price," he said.

Previously, PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir had confirmed that defenders Royalikarp, Jairo Riedewald, and Ole Romeny would soon strengthen the Indonesian national team.

Erick Thohir stated that the Riedewald naturalization process was still in the positive assessment stage, while Ole Romeny was confirmed to be undergoing a citizenship oath after completing a medical test.

"I think coach Patrick Kluivert didn't talk about the number (of naturalized players) yesterday, but what was conveyed was that one of the players when Coach Patrick announced joined, one of the responses was Jairo Riedewald. Still (still) a process," Erick said at a press conference at the Kemenpora Building, Jakarta, Monday, January 13.

"Ole has checked his health, he has gone to the embassy, just waiting for the oath of Indonesian citizens," added the former Inter Milan President.

Erick emphasized that a number of naturalized players are still in process, and asked the public to be patient waiting for the ongoing completion of the procedure.

Moreover, various parties ranging from the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), the Minister of Law, the House of Representatives (DPR), to President Prabowo Subianto also support every step taken by PSSI in an effort to strengthen the national team.
