Five Flood Soak Points, Tangerang City Government Evacuates Affected Residents

TANGERANG - Residents affected by flooding at five points have been evacuated by the Tangerang City Government, Banten to the disaster alert post since Tuesday night.

"We immediately moved quickly since last night and evacuated residents affected by the flood at disaster preparedness posts," said Tangerang Mayor Dr. Nurdin in his statement in Tangerang, Wednesday, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 29.

Based on temporary data, there are five flood points, namely in Belendung, Benda District, then in Gebang Raya and Periuk, Periuk District and in Lightning, Cipondoh District and Uwung Jaya Village, Jatiuwung District.

The water level ranges from 20 to 100 centimeters. The Tangerang City Government has also created evacuation posts at the Al Barkah Mosque and Gor Benda.

He said the readiness of officers in handling floods was a follow-up to the Hydrometeorological Disaster Emergency Alert status that had been implemented by the City Government some time ago.

The inundation and flooding were caused by heavy rain from day to night so that the drainage capacity and water storage were inadequate.

"In fact, we also heard that several flights had been delayed as well. But hopefully, with the decrease in rainfall, God willing, the inundation will recede soon," he said.

He added that his party had prepared joint personnel to anticipate disaster and emergency situations that could potentially arise.

"Aid from friends from joint personnel, especially logistics such as food, drinks and blankets and medicines can also arrive quickly and at the right time." he added.

He also invited the public to always maintain and increase vigilance and immediately report if they encounter an emergency or disaster situation.

"Friends will always stand by and be ready to receive incoming reports either through call center 112 or from LAKSA non-stop and 24 hours," he concluded.
