JAKARTA - PT Taman Animal Semarang (Perseroda) or Semarang Zoo earlier this year received Rp750 million in corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from a number of companies to develop tourism potential.

Semarang Zoo Director Bimo Wahyu Widodo, in Semarang, Sunday, said that his party is believed to be a facilitator between the Indonesian Recreation Park Business Association (Putri) and PT Global Tix, Aqua and Joyday in collaboration with tourist destinations.

According to him, the three companies provided CSR funds for the development of Semarang Zoo tourism which is also known as Kebon Zoo (Bonbin) Mangkang.

PT Tirta Investama (Aqua) provided CSR assistance worth IDR 400 million in the form of animal feed donations and employee uniforms to Semarang Zoo.

PT Global Tix gave IDR 50 million in the form of donations for foster animals to Semarang Zoo, while PT. Green Asia Food Indonesia (Joyday) IDR 300 million in the form of providing facilities for infrastructure, public facilities, and employee uniforms.

He appreciated the cooperation and collaboration program with the food, beverage and ticket product partners in supporting Semarang Zoo as a conservation, education and recreation agency.

It is hoped that this program can be a pilot material or ATM (observing, imitated, modified) for food and beverage business people, as well as the goods and services sector in supporting flora and fauna conservation activities at Semarang Zoo.

"Hopefully our 50-year-old children and grandchildren will still be able to see and listen to the sounds of elephants, tigers, and other protected animals," he said.

As an effort to increase tourist visits, he said, Semarang Zoo presents various interesting events at the Chinese New Year celebration starting January 25-29, 2025.

"This activity will feature several lively events such as the Barongsai Parade, color competition, dance festival, Mandarin Cosplay, and so on. HTM (income ticket price) Semarang Zoo during the Chinese New Year event is IDR 35,000," he said.
