The floods that hit Grobogan Regency, Central Java, resulted in delays in train travel, including the Blambangan Express train and Pandalungan train.
As a form of attention to affected passengers, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 9 Jember provides compensation in the form of food and drinks through the service recovery program.
"As part of our commitment to providing the best service, food and drinks are provided for passengers who experience delays in travel," said KAI Daop 9 Legal and Public Relations Manager Cahyo Widiantoro, in Jember, as quoted by ANTARA.
He explained that the floods in Grobogan forced KAI to engineer the operating pattern for the Blambangan Ekspres and Pandalungan Trains, so that the two trains arrived late at the destination station.
"KAI is still trying to ensure the comfort of passengers even in the midst of an emergency situation by providing service recovery in the form of food and drinks according to procedures," he added.
This service recovery program is based on the provisions in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation (Permenhub) Number 63 of 2019 concerning the Standard Service of Minimum Transportation for People by Train. The regulation states:
In this case, Pandalungan Train was delayed by up to 5 hours, while the Blambangan Express train was about 2.5 hours late upon arrival.

"Passengers who experience delays more than 1 hour before departure can also cancel tickets and get 100 percent refunds, beyond booking fees," explained Cahyo.
KAI Daop 9 Jember also apologized for the inconvenience experienced by passengers due to flood conditions, which are outside the company's control. However, KAI remains committed to providing the best service, including ensuring the comfort of passengers during the trip.
Of the total 24 train trips managed by Daop 9 Jember every day, only four trips were disrupted due to flooding, namely the Pandalungan Train and the Blambangan Express train. Meanwhile, 20 other trips continue to operate normally.
Cahyo emphasized that safety remains KAI's top priority. The route that was affected by the flood was temporarily closed until it was declared safe to pass.
"KAI is trying to restore the affected route with full support from the emergency response team. We also continue to coordinate with the Ministry of PUPR, DJKA, and local governments to accelerate handling," he said.
As a mitigation measure, KAI applies a temporary rotating and operational engineering travel pattern to minimize the impact on passengers.
