President Prabowo Subianto ensured that the budget for the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) came entirely from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). This was confirmed in a closed cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, explained that President Prabowo rejected the use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds or foreign grants for this program.
"CSR funds are only used to support BGN partner infrastructure, while the MBG program budget is fully sourced from the APBN," said Dadan.
He also added that foreign assistance was only in the form of training and technical assistance, without direct funding for the MBG program.
The MBG program is designed to gradually increase the number of beneficiaries:
In January-April 2025, 3 million recipients with a budget of IDR 71 trillion. April-August 2025 with 6 million recipients. August-September 2025, 15-17 million recipients and the end of 2025 reached up to 82.9 million recipients with a total budget of IDR 100 trillion.
In 2026, this program is targeted to reach all targets, namely 82.9 million recipients throughout January-December, with a budget of IDR 400 trillion.
