BANTEN - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has sealed 453 tons of imported fish feed raw materials that are not in accordance with their intended use in Banten Province.

The Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Pung Nugroho Saksono, said that the sealing action was carried out in warehouses owned by PT PCIM and PT CMK.

The sealing was carried out because the fish feed ingredients that were supposed to be used for making fish feed had been partially processed into pet food products for cats and dogs that were ready to be distributed.

"The sealing was carried out on Monday. There are already regulations, every business actor who imports fish feed raw materials from abroad is required to use them for making fish feed, if they violate, they will be subject to administrative sanctions," he said in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, January 21.

Ipunk, Pung Nugroho's nickname, added that this regulation is clearly stated in Article 16 paragraphs (1) and (2) of the Regulation of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 4 of 2023 concerning Fish Feed.

Furthermore, he instructed the two companies to immediately implement the regulations that have been in effect.

"We instruct them to immediately change the processing of fish feed raw materials according to their designation as stated in the regulations," said Ipunk.

Meanwhile, the Director of Fisheries Resources Supervision of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Halid K Jusuf said that from the results of the inspection, the amount of fish feed that has been processed into animal feed products and is ready to be distributed is 434 tons with details that PCIM has produced 141.5 tons of fish meal and CMK 292.5 tons.

"There are still remaining fish feed ingredients that have not been processed in the PCIM warehouse as much as 15 tons and CMK as much as 4 tons, so that the total fish feed ingredients imported by PCIM are 156.5 tons while CMK is 296.5 tons," he explained.

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries stated that the sealing carried out by the Directorate General of PSDKP was in line with the policy of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, namely that every business actor is required to comply with the regulations that have been regulated by the state, including in the management of raw materials for fish feed from abroad.
