Minister Of Education And Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro Makes Peace With Neni Herlina

JAKARTA - Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro has reconciled with Neni Herlina, an ASN at the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti), who was previously reportedly fired, sparked a demonstration from the ministry employee.

Neni Herlina met directly with Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro at the residence of the Minister of Education and Technology on Monday night, January 21. Neni will certainly continue to work at the Ministry of Education and Technology.

Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro emphasized that the two demonstration figures, including Neni and Witno, were part of the restructuring process within the Ministry of Education and Technology.

"I, the Minister of Education and Technology, have invited the two figures of the action, namely Neni and Witno's sister. We spoke and discussed at our residence, where I explained that our ministry is in the process of restructuring," he said, as quoted by ANTARA.

This restructuring process, continued Satryo, includes the determination of personnel, staff, and employees as a result of the separation of the Ministry of Education and Technology from the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2024.

"Of course there are several new positions that must be filled, while the existing positions will be evaluated regarding the role, main tasks and functions (tupoksi), as well as the suitability with the existing staff," said Satryo.

He also emphasized that in the process of determining the bureaucratic structure of the ministry, several staff or employees must be re-employed.

"We have conveyed to the two parties to understand. We also remind that we will continue to work to ensure that this ministry can carry out the tasks set by the President," he added.

Satryo explained that in determining the duties, roles, and functions of the ministry, as well as choosing personnel and staff, the ministry always prioritizes the suitability of individual competencies and capabilities.

Previously, hundreds of employees of the Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology of the Ministry of Education and Technology held a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Education and Technology office, Jakarta, on Monday (20/1/2025) morning, in protest against the dismissal of Neni Herlina.

During the demonstration, the employee accused the Minister of Education and Technology, Satryo, of being arrogant towards his subordinates. The chairman of the Dikti Employee Association, Suwitno, stated that there was a misunderstanding in the implementation of the task that caused slander against Neni, who was accused of accepting something she had not actually done.

Suwitno also revealed that treatment that was considered unfair was previously experienced by other employees who did not want to be named.

After the demonstration, the Minister of Education and Technology, Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro, invited the action figure to his house and reportedly made peace with Neni Herlina.
