KPK Prepares Materials Against Pretrial Hasto Kristiyanto Today

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is ready to fight the pretrial lawsuit of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto which was tried by the South Jakarta District Court (PN) today.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika when asked about Hasto's first pretrial hearing. The politician sued the suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement process (PAW) of members of the DPR and the obstruction of the investigation.

"The KPK Law Bureau is preparing all the materials needed to deal with the pretrial lawsuit of suspect HK," said Tessa when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, January 21.

Even so, Tessa did not answer the question of whether or not the legal team was present at the trial.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, has confirmed that his institution will not be afraid to face the resistance of the Hasto camp. No matter how many lawyers are brought, it does not affect his party.

"Yes, of course, if we talk about whatever lawyers want, then those who accompany the suspect, that's right," Setyo told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 14.

Instead of worrying about the number of lawyers accompanying Hasto, Setyo said, the KPK is more focused on dealing with pretrials. "In principle, we are all sure, optimistic about how we face applications or lawsuits from the suspect in filing a preper," he said.

The KPK through the legal bureau team will present everything before the panel of judges who are hearing pretrial. "It's like this word is a proof that we have prepared formally," said Setyo.

"Especially if the demands or entry to the material ones, for example the single judge, we also ask that we prepare them," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK developed a case of alleged bribery related to the management of PAW members of the DPR involving former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitives, Harun Masiku. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres and lawyers were later named as suspects.

Hasto was also charged in the case of obstruction to the investigation by the KPK. He allegedly asked Harun Masiku to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out in 2020.

In this case, Hasto Kristiyanto has undergone examination as a suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the obstruction of the investigation on Monday, January 13. He was not detained after undergoing examination for about 3.5 hours.
