JAKARTA - The office of the United Nations human rights agency on Friday urged all parties to do everything so that the ceasefire in Gaza does not fail amid bombings and killings of Palestinians.

"We are observing the situation closely," said spokesman Ravina Shamdasani as quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Friday, January 17.

Shamdasani said it witnessed massive bombings ahead of the ceasefire, including the previous night's bombings.

"We are aware that the Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that 81 Palestinians have died on January 15 and 16," he said.

"We call on all warring parties to do everything they can to prevent a ceasefire deal from failing," he urged.

Shamdasani asked the warring side to implement a hard-to-get ceasefire agreement, and to move forward to complete the second and third stages of the agreement as soon as possible.
