3 Malaysian Fishermen Drifting In Aceh Waters Rescued By Local Fishermen

BANDA ACEH - Aceh Tamiang fisherman, Aceh, rescued three fishermen from Malaysia who were swept away and stranded in Aceh waters due to bad weather in the Indian Ocean region in the past two weeks.

"Yes, that's right, we received information this morning that a Malaysian fisherman was rescued by Acehnese fishermen," said Secretary General of Panglima Laot Aceh, Azwir Nazar, in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 13.

The Malaysians are named Asrul Hisham, Mohd Aiman bin Asrul, and Mohd Amin with the number KP 780427086801 which has its address at No F40 2A KG Penalangan Batu Lintang, Kedah, Malaysia.

Azwir said that after being rescued by Acehnese fishermen, the fish seeker from the neighboring country has so far been in good health.

"Alhamdulillah, their condition is good and healthy. Reportedly they were swept away due to bad weather and storms," he said.

He conveyed information about the disappearance of three Malaysian fishermen for the first time conveyed by The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency who contacted Basarnas on January 11, 2025.

Three Malaysian fishermen have been missing since January 9, 2025, and are most likely swept away into Indonesian or Thai waters.

The Malaysian fishermen are reportedly currently landed in a local fishing house. For more information, it cannot be conveyed because the communication network there is not good.

There are a few obstacles in our communication there (fishing houses), because the telecommunications network or signal is often broken. That's temporary information, and we've got pictures of the three Malaysian fishermen," said Azwir Nazar.

For information, Panglima Laot is an Acehnese customary marine institution that oversees fishermen in Aceh. All problems related to fishermen at sea cannot be separated from the authority of the institution.
