8 Houses In Bukit Jodoh Batam Damaged By Landslides

Eight houses in Kampung Melayu Bukit Jodoh, Batam City, Riau Islands (Kepri), were damaged by landslides due to extreme weather that has been going on since Friday (10/1) until now in the local area.

Head of RW 01 Kampung Melayu Bukit Jodoh Chadirun in Batam, Monday, said that of the eight houses that were damaged, one of them was badly damaged.

In addition to being a residence, the house is also used as a place for selling penyet chickens.

"The owner of the house has been evacuated to his son's house. Some items are stored at the meeting hall," said Chadirun as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 13.

Based on observations at the location, the soil contours in the area are hilly, so landslides are prone to landslides during extreme weather.

"The structure of hilly soil, so there is a risk of landslides. It is feared that there will be further landslides. This budget year has also realized the construction of talud. The meeting hall was also made as a post," he said.

He appealed to the public to remain vigilant, and for the time being residents affected by landslides could evacuate to their families' homes.

"Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties. The goods were quickly evacuated and we urge residents not to live in houses affected by landslides," said Chadirun.
