Tanah Karo Police together with Koramil 03 TB Berastagi evacuated a fallen tree that had blocked access to the Medan-Berastagi road in Karo Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra).

Heavy rains that flushed the area were suspected to have caused trees to fall and cut off access to the Medan-Berastagi road.

The road access was cut off, causing a long queue of vehicles on Jl. Guarantee Ginting KM 55-56, Doulu Village, Berastagi District, Karo Regency.

There were no casualties in the incident and currently the Tanah Karo Police are still coordinating with the Public Works Office of Karo Regency to clean up the remaining material on the side of the road so that there is no narrowing of the road.

Officers also continue to coordinate to anticipate further natural disasters such as fallen trees and landslides.

Eko explained that traffic control had also been carried out, so that long queues could be broken down. The route is the main access to Medan-Berastagi, so that the incident of the fallen tree was immediately handled by officers.

"At 10.30 WIB the vehicle was able to pass because the evacuation of the fallen tree was carried out quickly and used the engine unit," said Eko.

The police chief also appealed to the public to remain vigilant because of the extreme weather that is currently hitting in a number of areas. One of the things that should be of concern to residents is fallen trees and landslides.

"The speed of response in handling situations like this is our priority to maintain the security and comfort of the community," he said.
