Puan: There Has Been No Discussion On The Substitution Of The PDIP Secretary General After Hasto Hasto Has The Status Of A Suspect

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP for Political Affairs, Puan Maharani, confirmed that there had been no internal party discussion regarding the replacement of Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto after being named a suspect by the KPK.

"We'll see first what happens. We are presumption of innocence first. (The replacement of the Secretary General) we haven't talked about that yet," said Puan at the PDIP Party School, Jakarta, Friday, January 10.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also gave an explanation of the statement by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri who highlighted how the KPK ignored other corruption suspects, even though the case was quite large.

According to Puan, Megawati reminded that the legal process must run fairly.

"It means that the legal process (must run) is the same. So, yes, everything must go the same," he said.

Regarding Hasto's plan to fulfill the KPK's summons on Monday (13/1), Puan stated this as a tribute to the legal process.

"As a citizen, of course you must (respect) the legal process, yes. Now, it is in effect or running in the legal process," explained Puan.

KPK investigators on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, named two new suspects in the Harun Masiku case series, namely PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) and advocate Donny Tri Istiqomah (DTI).

KPK chairman Setyo Budiyanto revealed that HK regulates and controls DTI to lobby KPU member Wahyu Setiawan in order to appoint Harun Masiku as a candidate for elected DPR RI member from the South Sumatra I electoral district.

HK is also suspected of regulating and controlling DTI to actively take and deliver bribes to be handed over to Wahyu Setiawan through Agustiani Tio Fridelina.
