Eradication Of Online Gambling, National Police Chief Calls 126,447 Sites Proposed To Block

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the National Police is committed to eradicating online gambling practices. Evidenced by applying for a blocking of 126,447 online gambling sites throughout 2024.

"Propose blocking of 126,447 online gambling sites," said Sigit when describing the achievements of the National Police at the Year-End Release (RAT) which was held at the National Police Headquarters, Tuesday, December 31.

In addition, the National Police has also taken action against 4,926 gambling cases with a total settlement of 3,526 cases or 71.58 percent.

When compared to the previous period, that number increased by 1,007 cases or 39.97 percent. It is known, in 2023, the National Police will settle 2,519 cases.

"Of all the cases that have been successfully uncovered, 1,611 cases include criminal acts of online gambling involving 1,918 suspects who act as dealers, admins, operators, telemarketing, endorsements, collectors, and players," he said.

In eradicating online gambling, the National Police also applies the article on money laundering (TPPU). The goal is to provide a deterrent effect for the suspects.

In addition, of all the cases that have been revealed, various evidences were confiscated, ranging from land and buildings to tens of billions of cash.

"We managed to confiscate evidence in the form of land and buildings, jewelry, electronic devices, luxury vehicles, accounts and e-commerce accounts, gold and cash worth IDR 61.072 billion," said Sigit.
