Spending Trillions Of Rupiah, Prabowo Agrees That The Regional Head Election Will Be Re-elected By The DPRD

"This system, how many tens of trillions have been spent in 1-2 days, from countries and from their respective political figures," Prabowo said in his remarks at the peak event of the 60th Anniversary of the Golkar Party at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, Thursday night.

Prabowo argues that regional head elections through the DPRD will be more efficient and save the state budget. He mentioned neighboring countries that implement similar systems, such as Malaysia, Singapore, and India, which are considered more efficient in managing state spending.

"I see that our neighboring countries are efficient. Malaysia, Singapore, India, once we choose DPRD members, it is the DPRD that chooses governors, chooses regents. Efficients do not come out of money, are efficient, rich we are rich," said Prabowo.

Prabowo emphasized that the money that should have been used for the cost of direct regional elections could be diverted to the needs of the people, such as education and infrastructure.

"Money that can feed our children, money that can repair schools, money that can repair irrigation," he said.

Prabowo juga menyarankan bahwa perbaikan sistem ini dapat dibahas dan diputuskan oleh para elite partai politik, termasuk dalam perayaan HUT Partai Golkar yang dihadiri oleh sejumlah ketua umum partai.

"Ini sebetulnya banyak ketua umum, ini sebetulnya bisa kita putuskan malam ini juga, bagaimana?" tanya Prabowo, bercanda.

Furthermore, Prabowo suggested not to rely too much on foreign consultants, especially those who suggest that elections be held as often as possible. He emphasized that even though he is not anti-foreigners, they do not necessarily understand Indonesia's needs and conditions.

"Once again I don't want to invite us to be anti-foreigners, no! But not necessarily they think about us," said Prabowo.

With his support for regional head elections through the DPRD, Prabowo hopes that the system can reduce budget waste and focus more on development that is beneficial to the people.
