The Death Toll Of The Shipwreck In The Madura Sea Is 2 People, 1 Others Are Missing

The passengers of the motorboat that sank in the waters of the Madura Strait were accommodated at the Situbond Anchor Port

SITUBONDO - The death toll in the incident of the motorboat (KLM) Fajar Lorena Safari sank in the waters of the Madura Strait, increasing to two people and one other victim is still missing. The two female victims are known as Hairi (53) and Mahni (65).

The bodies of the two victims who died have now been evacuated to Asembagus Hospital.

Basarnas member Jefri said there were 73 passengers of KLM Fajar Lorena. Jefri said KLM Fajar Lorena Safari departed from Sapudi Island on Saturday (8/12/2024) morning at around 10.15 WIB with the destination of Kalbut Situbondo Port, East Java.

Unfortunately, about 2.5 hours of sailing the shipwreck in the waters of the Madura Strait after the right back hull was hit by a wave. Luckily, at that time there was a "TM Berlian Selatan" tanker passing at the scene and evacuating passengers onto the ship.

"Of the 73 passengers on the ship that sank in Madura, there were 5 crew members, 61 adult passengers and 10 child passengers," said Jefry.

A total of 70 passengers who survived some had been picked up by their family members, while the other passengers were waiting for the repatriation process to their area of origin, namely Sapudi Island Sumenep Madura.

"For victims who have not been picked up, the family will be facilitated by the Situbondo Police for the repatriation process. Meanwhile, the missing victims of the shipwreck in Madura will be searched starting Monday
