JAKARTA - British deputy prime minister Angela Rayner welcomed the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria, saying that over the years too many people have lost their lives.
While speaking to Sky News, Rayner said the situation in Syria looked "very serious."
"If the Assad regime falls, I welcome the news," he said. He said the ousted President Bashar al-Assad was "not entirely good to the Syrian people."
"What we want to see is a political resolution that is in line with UN resolutions. We want to see civilians and protected infrastructure, too many people have lost their lives, we need stability in the region," he added, referring to the civil war in Syria, which has hit the country and the region since 2011.
