KPK: More Civilized Prevention Approach

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that eradicating corruption should not only aim to imprison people. Therefore, prevention efforts are the focus without neglecting enforcement efforts such as hand arrest operations (OTT).

Once again, we view that the prevention approach is more civilized. Because we don't want corruption eradication, it's not aimed at keeping someone away, but the goal is how public finances are not stored, right, it's not misused," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron in a media discussion at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, March 28.

Ghufron explained that the KPK was indeed trying to focus on prevention efforts.

"Those who still use criminal sanctions are actually countries that are still a bit ancient," he said.

However, he did not deny that efforts to take action such as arresting more attracted the attention of the public. Thus, in the future efforts to eradicate corruption in the country can be more systemic.

"We then used the trident. In order not to want to (corruption, ed), the two ways are systemic to prevent the system from being corrupted. Only, if it remains corrupt, it will be dealt with so that it is deterrent and others are afraid," he said.

"The details are like that. That's why we then use prevention, there are those who use LHKPN, because whatever the mode, whatever the way, and then the forms of their actions, right, the ending wants to add money illegally," concluded Ghufron.
