Vice President Asks MUI To Be A Government Partner To Accelerate Stunting

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin asked the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to play a role as a government partner in accelerating the decline in stunting cases.

"Through Zero Stunting Action towards Golden Indonesia 2045, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) can appear as a driving force for the people, as well as become a strategic partner of the government in an effort to achieve the target of accelerating stunting reduction," said the Vice President at the MUI National Coordination Meeting of the Women, Youth and Family Commission (KPRK) at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, February 12, was confiscated by Antara.

The Vice President detailed that in 2022, there are still about one in five Indonesian toddlers who are stunted, or malnourished for a long period of time.

However, to achieve the target of 14 percent stunting in 2024, extra efforts are needed that require hard work, smart work, and collaborative work from all parties, including the involvement of ulama and religious leaders.

The vice president said that ulama and religious leaders have an approach style that is easily understood by the public.

Therefore, he called for ulama and religious leaders to be involved in reducing the stunting rate from the previous 21.6 percent in 2022 to 14 percent in 2024.

The Vice President conveyed a number of messages so that quality, competitive, and especially free stunting resources towards Indonesia Gold 2045.

"First, ulama must have a good understanding of stunting to convey to the public," said the Vice President.

Second, he continued, ulama as educators are obliged to convey messages in a good way.

Third, ulama are also seen as drivers who are expected to be able to encourage people to be active in dealing with stunting. That way, ulama can also prevent stunting children, as well as deal with stunting children in their residential areas.

At the National Coordination Meeting, MUI also made a Declaration of Zero Stunting Action.

Deputy Chairperson of the MUI Marsudi Suhud said that the stunting that is currently being pursued together is for the common good of the Indonesian people to prepare future leaders, especially in welcoming Indonesia Gold 2045.

"We are dealing with stunting for the benefit of individuals with the real goal for an advanced nation in 2045 to welcome the Golden Year," said Marsudi.
