Palmeriam Residents Say Security Guards At Mount Antang Often Create Problems

JAKARTA - It seems that the localization of prostitution and gambling in Gunung Antang, East Jakarta is not only complained of by residents of RW 001, Rawa Bunga Village, Jatinegara District.

Apart from the residents of RW 001, Rawa Bunga Village, which is located close to the Gunung Antang localization, it turns out that the residents of RW 009 Palmeriam Sub-district, Matraman District also complained about the existence of the Gunung Antang localization.

The head of RW 009 Palmeriam, Sutrisno said that the existence of the localization of Mount Antang provided both positive and negative sides in the area. But according to him, the most negative side is related to the existence of this localization.

"Yes, the name of the place (localization) is not good, for the area it is not good. But if we look at the positives, there are many negatives," said Sutrisno to reporters, Friday, June 17.

According to information compiled by VOI, the existence of this localization also has a positive impact on the residents of RW 009 Palmeriam because of the emergence of illegal parking lots for two-wheeled vehicles for visitors to the Gunung Antang localization.

From the search, information obtained by VOI shows that the parking lot is near the river next to the Gunung Antang localization. It is suspected that the parking location does not have an official permit from the Parking Technical Management Unit (UPT) of the DKI Jakarta Transportation and Transportation Service. The cost of parking motorbikes at that location is set at Rp. 10 thousand per vehicle for visitors to the Gunung Antang localization.

While the negative side of the existence of Gunung Antang localization, he continued, in the localization area many people (visitors) come from anywhere.

"The negative thing is that there are a lot of people there, they can't control it, even though there is security. That's what I mean, maybe from outside, they are drunk and acting," he said.

In fact, he continued, it was the thugs in the Gunung Antang localization who sometimes acted out of control because they were out of control.

"From the security point of view, sometimes it's not controlled either. So you take the law into your own hands. It's troubling even though the residents aren't involved, but the impact is there," he said.

Previously, the Head of RW 001, Rawa Bunga Village, Jatinegara District, Dwi Lestari, had the same complaint.

Dwi said that residents wanted the localization to be closed during mediation with Gunung Antang at the East Jakarta Police Headquarters, Monday, June 13, yesterday.

"Requests from residents ask for the closure of the localization of prostitution and gambling in Gunung Antang. That's a request from the residents, it should be closed immediately," said Dwi when contacted, Tuesday, June 14.

Dwi said that not only the residents of Rawa Bunga objected to the localization of Mount Antang, but also the residents of Kayu Manis and Pisangan. This is because the residents' settlements are close to the localization.

"Because we have talked about the residents of Kayu Manis and Pisangan (Baru) which are located close to Mount Antang," said Dwi.

Dwi also explained, many residents asked about the existence of the localization of Mount Antang which is still operating today.

He also asked the relevant parties to immediately take decisive steps to close the localization of prostitution.

"Because many people ask, what's wrong with the localization that can't be closed? While the other localizations can be closed. All of that (Kalijodo) can be closed, why can't Mount Antang be closed?," he asked in surprise.

Furthermore, the East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) finally agreed with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) as the land owner to regulate the localization of Mount Antang, East Jakarta.

The area included in the two sub-districts, namely Matraman District and Jatinegara District, will soon be demolished.

East Jakarta City Administration Assistant, Eka Darmawan said that there had been results from the meeting held by the two agencies.
