YOGYAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin understands that there will be an increase in the number of people doing Lebaran homecoming this year, which is predicted to reach 70-80 million people.

"Yes, it is estimated that between 70-80 million people are going home, because it has been two years since they have gone home; yes, it is understandable," said the Vice President on the sidelines of his working visit to Gunungkidul Regency, DIY, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 22.

With the prediction that many people will travel back and forth, the Vice President appealed to them to strictly adhere to and implement health protocols, as well as carry out COVID-19 vaccinations.

"Therefore, the message is for travelers to maintain, implement health protocols, then vaccinate," he added

Ma'ruf Amin stressed that the government had urged travelers to carry out booster or booster vaccinations before traveling back and forth. This is to anticipate the transmission of the virus from cities to villages and vice versa.

"Because where they go home, there are parents, there are sick people, children. Don't bring the virus into the village. On the other hand, don't bring the virus from the village (when) back to the city. This (perhaps) will occur transmission, ( then) must be maintained," he said.

The Vice President also appealed to the regional government (Pemda) to prevent an increase in COVID-19 cases. The vice president again reminded several countries that there had been an increase in cases of COVID-19 transmission, such as the UK and China.

"We don't want Lebaran, going home, this will be the reason for the increase," he said.
