JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health has ensured that there will be no new clusters of COVID-19 in the World Superbike (WSBK) Mandalika 2021 Indonesia event thanks to discipline in strict health protocols.

"Activities in the field can take place according to the program. Inter-institutional roles have also supported the implementation of the program, such as ITDC (Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation) and MGPA (Mandalika Grand Prix Association) through Event Organizer Diandra, then the Ministry of Health and BNPB," said the Director of Occupational Health. and Sports Ministry of Health Riskiyana Sukandhi Putra in a written statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

WSBK 2021 which will take place from 19 to 21 November 2021, said Riskiyana, shows Indonesia's success in controlling COVID-19 when community activities take place side by side with the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date, said Riskiyana, the Health Office of Central Lombok (Loteng), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has ensured that there are no new clusters of COVID-19 in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) and World Superbike (WSBK) events that have taken place at the Circuit Pertamina Mandalika International.

Various efforts were made to prevent transmission and protect health during the Mandalika WSBK. All athletes, officials and teams are required to carry out PCR swab tests without exception, he said.

Riskiyana said the results of the swab test were listed in the PeduliLindung application and were used as a condition to enter the location. A strict screening process is also applied to all participants, spectators and workers involved in the WSBK event.

"There are three points for checking health protocols and other screenings, such as checking body temperature, vaccine status, and safety," he said.

After checking in with the PeduliLindung application, said Riskiyana, the results of the swab test were scanned and validated by the committee. If the results are appropriate, then the person concerned is allowed to enter the venue, while if confirmed positive, he/she is required to isolate.

"Isolation and treatment facilities in the form of medical tents are prepared inside and outside the circuit. Meanwhile, temporary isolation rooms can be used if there are positive cases, before the patient is referred to a quarantine area," he said.

During the event, said Riskiyana, there is a daily reporting system for potential extraordinary events (KLB) for the detection of COVID-19 cases.

Not only inside the location, strict supervision is also applied at five points of entry to the Mandalika Area, in coordination with the Ministry of Transportation. There is also an antigen test facility at the location in collaboration with the local health office, he added.

Health protocol supervision is carried out by officers, especially at critical points or locations that have the potential to become mass gathering places. As for those who violate, they are given a direct warning by the implementers in the field and further sanctions adjust to more general rules such as the implementation of PPKM.

Socialization, education, and health care support facilities are also provided at the activity location to encourage participants and spectators to remain disciplined to prevent transmission. This is conveyed through graphical displays, instructions, the availability of free masks, as well as warnings from officers in each section.

Riskiyana added that the implementation of health protocols could still be improved. For example, it is still found that there are people who have not used masks properly, thus requiring officers to remind them.
