Former GAM Commander Believes Police Can Resolve Shooting Cases In Aceh

ACEH - Former GAM Commander who is now Chairman of the Central Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA) Haji Muzakir Manaf emphasized that his party believes the Police are able to uncover a number of armed criminal cases that occurred in Aceh in the past week.

"We hope that the authorities will resolve all incidents in Aceh," said Muzakir Manaf in Subulussalam City, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 1.

As is known, since last week there have been three criminal cases using firearms in Aceh.

These included the attack on the police post in Manggi Village, Panton Reue District, West Aceh, and the shooting of the intelligence commander from the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in Pidie which caused the victim to die.

Finally, a clothing store robbery in East Aceh Regency caused losses of up to one hundred million rupiah.

Responding to this, the former Commander of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) also emphasized that his party appreciates the steps taken by the police who have succeeded in uncovering the shooting case in Pidie, Aceh, as well as arresting the perpetrators.

The man who is familiarly called Mualem also entrusted the investigation of armed criminal cases in Aceh to the Police, with a professional and correct investigation.

He also emphasized that the armed crimes that took place in the past week in three areas in Aceh were entirely general crimes, allegedly because they were triggered by personal problems.

"So there are no other (political) indications, all of this happened because of personal matters," said Muzakir Manaf.
