East Lampung Residents Killed Attacked By Wild Elephants Way Kambas
LAMPUNG - Sutikno (55), a resident of Tegal Yoso Village, Purbolinggo District, East Lampung Regency, died in his cornfield after being attacked by dozens of wild elephants from the Way Kambas National Park forest.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 31 evening. Sutikno's body was found around 20.00 WIB, said Purbolinggo sub-district head Amir Hamsah.
"A group of about 24 or 30 elephants entered the plantation area, the residents then chased them away. Maybe Mr. Sutikno was trapped and then attacked by the elephants", explained Amir Hamsah, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 1.
According to him, Sutikno suffered many serious injuries as a result of attacks by the Way Kambas wild elephant herd.
"His left leg was broken and his bones were crushed, his right leg was broken, the skin was peeling off, his chest was bruised from being trampled, his head was bruised, his hip was broken", he said.

According to Amir Hamsah, Sutikno's body was buried this morning.
The Regent of East Lampung, Dawam Raharjo, also came to pay his respects. The East Lampung Social Service also provided cash assistance to alleviate the Sutikno family's calamity.
"The regent was present in the funeral procession, after this incident the regent will coordinate with the Way Kambas National Park Office so that an elephant canal is built between the plantation and the Way Kambas forest", he said.
