Rain And Wind Make Many Trees Fall, Depok City Government: The Trees Are Not Included In The List Of Prone To Falls

JAKARTA - 14 Task Forces (Satgas) of the Depok City Environment and Hygiene Office (DLHK) were dispatched to deal with fallen trees at several points. The fallen tree was caused by heavy rain and strong winds that occurred yesterday (31/10), at around 14.00 western Indonesia time.

"The incident happened at around 14.00 western Indonesia time, we sent a Task Force with 14 personnel to carry out the handling. There are seven locations of fallen trees based on incoming reports," said the Head of the Environmental Management and Conservation Division of DLHK Depok City, Indra Kusuma, Monday (01/10/2021).

The locations are Rangkap Jaya, Muchtar Street Bojongsari, Cipayung TPA Office, Pitara Cable Alley, Prapatan UKI Pitara, Bedahan and Duren Mekar. The trees that fell were Mahogany, Rambutan, Timbul, Mango, and Teak, as quoted from the official website of the Depok City Government.

"This tree is not included in the list of trees prone to falling. So, this incident is purely a natural factor," he explained.

Indra explained that the handling was carried out in collaboration with the Fire Department (Damkar) and Disaster Rescue and Response (Tagana). For the fleet that was deployed in the form of two cars and one Hilux unit.

"Currently a number of fallen trees have been evacuated. We urge the public not to take shelter under shady trees, when it rains and always be vigilant," he concluded.
