Get Acquainted With Woman In Denpasar Through Social Media, A French Caucasian Is Scammed, Rp46.5 Million At ATM Is Drained
DENPASAR - Housewife (IRT) Erni Harum Cahyani (43) from Bogor, West Java, must languish in a detention cell at the Denpasar Police, Bali. She stole money belonging to French Caucasian Christian Moussier (73).
"The modus operandi involved taking the victim's BCA Bank ATM card while the victim was asleep," said Head of Public Relations of Denpasar Police Insp. I Ketut Sukadi, Monday, November 1.
The incident was discovered on Tuesday, October 28, at Bintang Supermarket Ubud, Sanggingan Street Number 45, Sayan, Gianyar Regency, Bali.
According to the chronology, the perpetrator and the victim had just met through social media, and the perpetrator was invited by the victim to Ubud, Gianyar, on Monday, October 27. When the victim was shopping and making payments, the suspect allegedly peeked at the victim's ATM card.
Then on Tuesday, October 28, the victim went to dinner in the Ubud area. However, when the victim checked in the bag, it turned out that the victim's BCA ATM card was gone.
Knowing this, the victim contacted the bank to block the victim's account. On Wednesday, October 29, the victim was given a printout of the transaction by the bank and it was discovered that there had been 14 transactions that were not made by the victim.
"The person concerned just met the victim via social media and was invited to Ubud. (The perpetrator) took the card in Ubud. However, the TKP (the crime scene) used the card and withdraw the money in the Denpasar jurisdiction. So the handling of the case can be at the Denpasar Police," he added.

For this incident, the victim lost Rp46.5 million. The perpetrators used the money to buy jewelry, pay debts, and trade capital.
From reports of French Caucasians who became victims, the police conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrators in West Denpasar.
The evidence that was secured were receipts for the purchase of jewelry, pawnshop receipts, receipts for withdrawing money at BCA ATMs, and the victim's savings bank statement.
"The results of the interrogation of the perpetrator admitted that he had taken the victim's BCA Bank ATM card in a bag that was placed in the room while the victim was on the balcony. Then it was used to buy jewelry at the Melati Gold Shop, Hasanudin Street Denpasar, pay debts, and for trading business capital," said Insp. Sukadi.
