Depok City Government Collaborates With UI, Designs Old Depok Heritage Area To Become A Historical Tourism Destination
JAKARTA - The Depok City Government, West Java, together with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, are planning the development of the Old Depok Heritage area to become a historical tourist destination.
"All plans are being made to realize the Old Depok Heritage. However, first, cooperation with the Dutch government is being carried out," Deputy Mayor of Depok Imam Budi Hartono told Antara, Saturday.
He said the first collaboration was to create twin cities with the Netherlands so that the Dutch historical heritage in Depok could become a destination for world citizens to come to Depok.
He said the declaration would involve a pentahelix between the Depok City Government, the Dutch Embassy in Indonesia, FTUI, communities, and businessmen. Thus, it is hoped that it can give birth to a cultural tourism object area of Dutch historical heritage in Depok City.
"The five of us are working together to make it happen. We are raising Depok's cultures, both in terms of religious, Islamic and historical culture, there will be a museum of historical relics in Depok City and an international activity because it has been formed in Depok. Hopefully it will be realized, just wait," he said. .
Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Depok City, Dadang Wihana, said that the meeting with UI was to discuss urban infrastructure development and the development of the Old Depok Heritage area, involving a number of stakeholders and related regional apparatus organizations.
"Later on, the area will be transformed into a historical tourist destination," he said.
