Vice President Asks Pefindo Credit Bureau To Grow Public Financial Access

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked PT Pefindo the Credit Bureau to improve public access to finance, especially in an effort to encourage micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in various regions.

"The public's financial access must be grown so that they can use economic facilities," said Vice President Ma'ruf when receiving a virtual audience from the board of directors of PT Pefindo the Credit Bureau, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 28.

The Vice President assessed that currently the financial records of MSMEs are still low because most of them are managed traditionally. In fact, the Vice President continued, access to financing for MSMEs would be more open if the financial records and literacy of MSME actors went well.

As one of the Credit Information Management Institutions (LPIP), the Vice President asked Pefindo to play a role in increasing public literacy about Islamic economics and finance.

"It is very important to improve the financial literacy of the community, especially MSMEs who still do not understand about access to finance," said Ma'ruf Amin.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pefindo Credit Bureau Yohanes Arts Abhimanyu is committed to increasing public literacy in finance, especially in the sharia sector.

He said the public's low understanding of credit is evidenced by data on the number of people of productive age who do not have a credit history as many as 62 million people.

"Our mission is to strengthen the national financial system and realize the creation of an inclusive financial system through providing information to the public," said Yohanes.
