Shin Tae-Yong Asks Team To Change Long Pass With One Two Bait

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian U-23 national team Shin Tae-yong asked the Garuda Muda squad to play short passes against Australia in the second leg of the 2022 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification Group G, tomorrow Friday. This was conveyed by Subhan Fajri.

"In the first game we used too many top balls. Next, we have to improve on that and play one or two passes accurately," Subhan told PSSI TV, quoted by Antara on Thursday.

Such a strategy is expected to overcome the physical advantages possessed by Australia.

Subhan continued, Shin also asked his players to maintain optimism.

A 2-3 defeat to Australia in the first leg was not the end of the struggle. Indonesia still has a chance to qualify.

"We are targeting victory. All the players are in good condition and have been recovering," said Subhan.

Indonesia's U-23 national team lost 2-3 to Australia in the first leg of Group G Qualification for the 2022 U-23 Asian Cup at Republican Central Stadium, Tajikistan, last Tuesday.

Two Indonesian goals were scored by Witan Sulaeman (67') and Taufik Hidayat (84'). Meanwhile, the goals for Australia were made by Marc Tokich (53'), Patrick Wood (59') and Jacob Italiano (77').

The Indonesian U-23 national team still has the opportunity to advance to the 2022 U-23 Asian Cup. The condition is that the Garuda Muda squad must win at least a two-goal advantage in the second leg which will take place tomorrow.

If Indonesia wins by one goal, the match will go straight to the penalty shootout without extra time.
