Police Arrest 3 Cycling Snatching Groups, Including The Viral In Sudirman

JAKARTA - The police arrested one of the two perpetrators of snatching cellphones belonging to cyclists in Sudirman, South Jakarta, which went viral on social media. They were arrested one day after the action.

"Within one day we will arrest the perpetrator with the initials ABL," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Wednesday, October 27.

The perpetrator, who played the role of a jockey, was arrested in the area of the Pinus Elok Flats, Cakung, East Jakarta. Meanwhile, one other perpetrator is still being sought.

"Another one is the DPO. We already know their identity. We are currently pursuing them," said Yusri.

Based on the results of the investigation, the perpetrators of this robbery are not the first time they have acted. The mode used in launching the action by first patrolling to find targets and observe the situation.

"When the initial cyclists left (the activity), he patrolled first," said Yusri.

The police charged the perpetrator with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft by weight.

Not only that, Yusri also said that his party had also uncovered two similar cases. One of them was carried out by a group known as the Cakung Group.

"The first crime scene (occurred) October 1 in Tanah Mas Raya, Kayuputih Pulo Gadung and TKP 2 on October 2, the same perpetrator in the same area," said Yusri.

In that case, two suspects have the initials BG and HS. They act as jockey and executor.

"The suspect's confession has even committed 30 crimes with the same mode as this. He is from the Cakung group," he continued.

Then, the last case occurred in the Pinangsia area, West Jakarta, by arresting four suspects. They are a gang that also often performs similar actions.

"There were 4 suspects arrested. First, FFI was a jockey, ABA was the executor, JAP was supervising at the crime scene and helped steal, MI was supervising at the scene," said Yusri.

Not only that, the police also arrested a trafficker with the initials M. This trafficker was charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code.
