COVID-19 Cases Rise, DKI Opens Opportunities To Tighten PSBB

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that his party opens the opportunity to tighten the transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSBB). This is because the development of the COVID-19 case in DKI Jakarta in the last few days has continued to increase.

Riza said that currently the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is studying the situation of the development of COVID-19 during the transitional PSBB period which will end on July 30. The indicators are the case reproduction rate, positivity rate, and the capacity of special beds for COVID-19 care.

"In these 2 days, we will evaluate the transitional PSBB. We coordinate with the central government, experts and experts, related agencies, and we will decide everything together," said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, July 28.

Riza said, it is not impossible that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will again tighten the PSBB like last April. Where, all residents carry out activities such as working from home.

Then, business activities such as restaurants are also prohibited from providing on-site dining to its customers and all recreational areas are closed again. Only a few important business sectors can operate.

"If (the development of the COVID-19 case) gets worse, it is possible for us to return to PSBB," said Riza.

However, there is also the possibility that DKI Pemprov will again extend the transitional PSBB. Almost all activities have been allowed to run with a capacity limitation of 50 percent, except for nightlife venues which are still closed.

"If it's still like this, chances are we will extend the transitional PSBB period," said Riza.

However, if there is a decrease in the three determining indicators, namely the case reproduction rate, the positivity rate, and the capacity of special beds for COVID-19 treatment, then DKI can relax the PSBB and all activities can resume operations.

"If there is an improvement, a positive increase towards a better direction, of course we will enter a period of health, safety, and productivity," said Riza.

Previously, Wiku Adisasmito, Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, highlighted the development of the COVID-19 case in DKI Jakarta, which has continued to increase in recent times.

Based on the results of the analysis as of July 26, Wiku said that the increase in COVID-19 cases resulted in all cities in DKI Jakarta entering a red zone. Which means, five administrative cities in Jakarta have a high risk of transmission.
