Was Delayed Due To The Delta Variant, Sri Mulyani's Subordinates Make Sure The Labor-intensive Program Is Ready To Be Gassed Again

JAKARTA - The government through the Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Suahasil Nazara confirmed that the implementation of the labor-intensive program will soon be rolled back after being delayed due to the delta variant outbreak in the middle of this year.

“When we were exposed to the delta variant, this labor-intensive activity was temporarily suspended to reduce transmission. Now that it has dropped, the labor-intensive program is running again,” he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, October 25.

According to the Deputy Minister of Finance, ministries and institutions will be encouraged to spearhead the implementation of one of these national programs.

"We want ministries and institutions to create labor-intensive outputs, including for mangrove conservation activities, the agricultural sector and also some infrastructure sectors so that they can be carried out," he said.

The representative from Sri Mulyani hoped that through labor-intensive activities it could further support the people's economy to return to life because the community had income that had previously been delayed.

"So that it becomes a driving force for economic recovery, especially in the fourth quarter or the end of the third quarter until the close of the year," he said.

To note, the labor-intensive program targets around 1.23 million workers for the whole of 2021. Meanwhile, the allocation of funds provided is included in the Priority Program scheme with a total of Rp. 117.94 trillion.

In addition to being labor intensive, the Priority Program also includes incentives for the tourism sector, food security programs, and loan facilities to the regions.

As of October 22, 2021, the realization of priority programs is stated at 68.07 percent or around 57.7 percent of the provided ceiling.
