DKI Deputy Governor Regarding Transjakarta Collision: Even If You Have Your Own Path, It Doesn't Mean Accident Free

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked PT Transjakarta staff to be more careful in carrying out bus operations. This is in response to the accident of two Transjakarta buses this morning.

"For Transjakarta staff, this is an important lesson for us in the future to be more careful," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Monday, October 25.

Riza expresses his condolences for this deadly incident. Riza also asked all parties to be careful. Even if you drive on a special lane, such as Transjakarta, which has its own lane, the potential for accidents can still occur.

"Even if we are on a safe route, have our own busway, it doesn't mean we are free from accidents, the fact is that an accident happened. In the future we must be careful so that it doesn't happen again, let alone swallow the victim, yes," he said.

For information, the accident of two TransJakarta buses occurred on Monday, October 25, early in the morning. As a result of the accident 39 people became victims. Two of them died. The remaining 37 suffered minor and serious injuries.

The accident began when a Transjakarta bus was stopped to drop off passengers at the Cawang Ciliwung Bus Stop. Suddenly, a bus from behind hit a bus that was stopped at a bus stop.

The front of the Transjakarta Jakarta bus that crashed from behind was damaged, as was the condition of the back of the Transjakarta bus which was stopped at the Cawang Ciliwung Bus Stop.

PT Transport Jakarta (Transjakarta) Operations Director Prasetia Budi said his party would provide assistance to victims of the Transjakarta accident.

"In the process of handling in the field, we coordinate directly with the Polda Metro Jaya. Our officers continue to accompany the victims, from the evacuation process to the treatment at the hospital and ensure they get the best service," said Prasetia.
