E-Commerce Transactions Reach IDR 266 Trillion, Ministry Of Industry Intensify E-Smart IKM

JAKARTA - Acting Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, is intensifying the e-Smart IKM program to capture online transaction opportunities. Data from Bank Indonesia shows that the value of Indonesia's e-commerce transactions in 2020 reached Rp266.3 trillion.

"This program is expected so that national IKM products have quality that can be globally competitive, by utilizing existing digital platforms such as e-commerce, websites and social media," said Reni, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 24.

Since 2020, the implementation of the e-Smart IKM program has become part of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (Gernas BBI) which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo.

Gernas BBI is a national movement as a form of support for domestic industries/products.

"In addition, the intense Gernas BBI campaign carried out by the government also aims to increase MSMEs/IKM onboarding on digital platforms, with a target of 30 million MSMEs/IKM onboarding by 2023," he said.

Reni added that her party had implemented various programs to support Gernas BBI, including the implementation of a webinar series with the Indonesian marketplace and culminating at the Joglosemar Festival in May 2021.

As a continuation of the coaching program from Gernas BBI, the Directorate General of IKMA held an e-Smart IKM Workshop for IKM centers in Malang City.

“As a follow-up to the e-Smart IKM program, in the future, active and pass curation SMIs will be selected to participate in sustainable programs from the Directorate General of IKMA, including digital marketing assistance, business management, and facilitation of membership in global e-commerce in IKM Go Global program," he explained.

Reni invites local governments and collaborators to be able to continue coaching IKM, so that they have access to continue to develop in order to increase industrial competitiveness for a better future for Indonesia.

“A big appreciation to the marketplace that is willing to collaborate with us in educating SMEs. It's time for the marketplace in Indonesia to be flooded with local products," he added.
