Releasing The 100th Volume, 'Detective Conan' Comic Sells 250 Million Copies Worldwide

JAKARTA - The journey of the Detective Conan manga comic entered the 100th volume in Japan. Since its premiere on January 19, 1994, this detective character is increasingly favored by manga fans. Especially after the anime aired.

Detective Conan is a shonen manga series (for male readers) written and drawn by Gosho Aoyama. In drawing the comic, Gosho Aoyama is assisted by 6 assistants who have different jobs.

The Detective Conan manga tells the story of a high school detective named Shinichi Kudo to solve a case. One day, he was poisoned by an organization called the Black Organization and made his body shrink like a 1st-grade elementary school kid.

Using the name Conan Edogawa, he attempts to solve more cases and stop the Black Organization. The intrigue of Conan's love story adds to the curiosity of the reader.

While still in the form of Shinichi Kudo's body, Conan openly shows readers that he really likes Ran Mouri, his childhood friend. However, their love is hindered because Kudo's body shrinks into Conan's.

A love triangle appears when Conan meets a beautiful girl named Ai Haibara. She has the same fate as Conan, her body shrinks because of APTX486. Conan then grew closer to Ai.

The complexity of the mystery and love story makes fans of this manga keep waiting for the sequel. Publisher Shogakukan announced that the Detective Conan manga has sold 250 million copies worldwide. Reporting from the Mainichi Shimbun, Friday, October 22, the anime version that aired worldwide boosted sales of the comic.
