North Sumatra BEM Students Protest 2 Years Of Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin In Medan, Bring Posters For The Indonesian Cabinet To Resign
MEDAN - Dozens of students who are members of the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM-SI) of North Sumatra rallied in front of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives building. The masses rallied to evaluate the performance of the 2-year leadership of Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin.
Students came with several posters and replicas of coffins. Their actions were closely monitored by the police.
Students argue that during the 2 years they led, Jokowi-Ma'ruf had failed to lead. Many problems occur and the resolution is considered slow. Therefore, they asked President Jokowi to evaluate the total cabinet of advanced Indonesia.
"We both think that the assessment for the 2 years of Jokowi-Ma'ruf's leadership is E for now", said the leader of the action, Rizki Fadillah in his speech, Thursday, October 21.
In the action, students put forward several demands.
"We are here not only to address national problems but North Sumatra. There are many problems, such as the closure of PT TPL which has not been carried out even though President Jokowi has said it", he said.
In addition, students also criticize the education sector. According to them, education in the 2 years of Jokowi-Ma'ruf's leadership is no longer an essential sector.
"Guaranteed academic freedom, equitable education costs. Then education is safe from sexual violence and upholds academic dignity", he said.

Students also urged the government to accelerate economic recovery with a priority commitment to people's welfare. In addition, they also demanded Jokowi stop all forms of problematic national strategic projects.
"Repeat the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) Law, the Minerals and Coal Law, the Job Creation Law, and all its derivative regulations. Revise the problematic articles of the ITE Law that threaten freedom of opinion and expression", shouted the crowd.
In addition, the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government is also required to resolve gross violations of human rights. And is committed to protecting and respecting human rights.
"Stop all forms of silencing democracy and guarantee civil liberties", he said.
This student demonstration was directly received by the Deputy Chairman of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives, Rahmansyah Sibarani. Together with several other Regional House of Representatives members, the NasDem politician confirmed that he would forward the student's demands to the House of Representatives.
"Today, some of your demands (students) are national regulations, national authorities, the president. We will make sure we send these (demands) by fax to the Indonesia House of Representatives", said Rahmansyah.
