Mexican State Health Minister Dies Of COVID-19
JAKARTA - The Minister of Health of the State of Chihuahua, Mexico, Dr. Jesus Grajeda passed away. He was hospitalized for the past two weeks, after testing positive for COVID-19.
"I am at a loss for words to express all my feelings at this moment, I am very sorry," wrote Chihuahua Governor Javier Corral on his personal Facebook account, Monday, July 27.
Governor Corral said Minister of Health Grajela died after experiencing heart failure. Mexico is the fourth country in the world to record the highest number of deaths from the corona virus.
As of Sunday 26 July, the Mexican Ministry of Health has reported 5,480 new cases of coronavirus infection with 306 additional deaths. This means that the total number due to respiratory disease COVID-19 is 390,516 cases with 43,680 deaths.
This makes Latin America the region worst affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The government says the true number of people infected is likely much higher than the confirmed cases.
