Inter vs Sheriff: The Snake Finally Won
JAKARTA - Inter Milan picked up their first three points in the Champions League this season. The points were obtained after beating Sheriff Tiraspol 3-1 in the continued Group D match at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, Milan, Italy.
Inter's new striker, Edin Dzeko led Inter which was returned by Sebastien Thill's spectacular free-kick goal for the Sheriff.
But Inter restored their lead and won the game thanks to additional goals from Arturo Vidal and Stefan de Vrij.
Despite the win, Inter did not move from the third position in Group D with four points. While the Sheriffs also remain top of the standings with six points with a head-to-head advantage over Real Madrid (6), according to the official UEFA website.
The Sheriff's efforts as Champions League debutants almost paid off when they posed a threat in the seventh minute but Adama Traore failed to find a fine cross from Cristiano and Inter quickly cleared the danger.
Inter slowly took control and took the lead in the 34th minute when Dzeko stood unmarked at the far post to find Vidal's header in a corner.
Inter's lead lasted until half-time and the Sheriff's on the counter-attack fought back early in the second half to equalize through Thill's long-range free-kick that beat Samir Handanovic in the 52nd minute.

Inter almost immediately restored their lead in the 57th minute, unfortunately, Ivan Perisic's shot from a tight angle still hit the post despite beating goalkeeper Dumitru Celeadnic.
A minute later, quoted from Antara, Inter actually restored their advantage through Dzeko's charming pass which was completed by Vidal's low flick in front of the visitors' goal, Wednesday, October 20 early morning.
Inter's momentum continued and in the 67th minute, they took advantage of a corner again to score another goal from De Vrij. Marcelo Brozovic's corner was met by Denzel Dumfries' header which was passed perfectly by De Vrij to make it 3-1 for the hosts.
Inter continued to bombard the visitors' defense and in the 83rd minute, Lautaro Martinez and Perisic scrambled for a wild ball in front of the Sheriff's goal. Perisic managed to find the ball, but his shot hit the crossbar and the score 3-1 did not last until dispersal.
The Sheriff certainly hopes that the supporters' support can help them avenge their defeat when they host Inter at the Bolshaya Sportivnaya Arena for their next match on November 3.
