Host Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Dies
JAKARTA - The host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire United States, Regis Philbin has passed away. Philbin died last Friday, July 24, a month before he turned 89 years old.
"Family and friends are grateful to be able to spend time with him, for his warmth, legendary sense of humor, and ability to make everyday life interesting to talk about," wrote the family as quoted by Antara, Monday.
"We thank fans and supporters for their support during his 60 year career and we ask for privacy during the mourning."
Regis Philbin hosted a variety of shows, including Who Wants to be a Millionere when it premiered in the United States in 1999. Philbin signed a 20 million-a-year honor contract for Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2000, the biggest payday for a quiz show.
In 2011, Regis Philbin retired from Live! With Regis and Kelly at 80 years old.

Guinness World Records recorded his name as the most frequent appearance person in US television history, around 17,000 hours.
