11 MTs Students Drowned While Walking Along The River In Ciamis

CIAMIS - The Bandung Basarnas Office stated that 11 students of MTs Harapan Baru died as a result of drowning during the activity along the Cileueur River, Cijeungjing District, Ciamis Regency, West Java.

Head of the Bandung Basarnas Office, Deden Ridwansah, confirmed that he had evacuated the survivors and those who died in the incident.

"Students at MTs Harapan Baru Ciamis were doing a river crossing to clean the river, suddenly several students drowned," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 15.

Based on a report received by Basarnas Bandung, the activity involved 150 students for activities along the river in Wetan Hamlet, Utama Village, Cijeunjing District, Ciamis.

Joint officers, he said, were still at the scene to be ready to carry out a search, equipped with equipment for river rescue.

"Currently the team is still at the scene to anticipate reports and developments from the committee and the victim's family," he said.

According to the latest report, the number of victims who were successfully evacuated was 21, consisting of 10 survivors and 11 dead.
