East Java Still On The Peak Of Papua National Sports Week Swimming Medals

JAKARTA - East Java is still the contingent with the most medals in the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) swimming competition.

Entering the fifth day, Wednesday, October 13, East Java collected 11 gold, seven silver, and four bronze.

This result was achieved after the addition of two gold, one silver, and two bronze on the fourth day of the competition at the Kampung Harapan Aquatic Arena, Jayapura Regency, last Tuesday.

According to Antara, the two gold medals were won by Glenn Victor Sutanto, who competed in the men's 50m butterfly, and Ressa Kania Dewi in the women's 200m individual medley.

Glenn showed his consistency by being the fastest, 24.52 seconds.

Glenn was ahead of Joe Aditya W. Kurniawan from DKI Jakarta who was in second place with 24.53 seconds.

The third position is occupied by Triady Fauzi Sidiq from West Java, who failed to defend his gold at the 2016 PON after recording 24.82 seconds.

Meanwhile, Ressa performed well with a score in the 200-meter individual medley with a score of 2 minutes 18.58 seconds.

This time record sharpened Ressa's record when she won gold at the 2016 PON in West Java with 2 minutes 19.12 seconds.

At the Papua PON, Ressa was ahead of Azzahra Permatahani from Riau who finished second with 2 minutes 20.31 seconds.

In addition to gold, East Java also won bronze in the 200-meter individual medley through Particia Yosita Hapsari with 2 minutes 23.97 seconds.

While the silver and one bronze for East Java came from Adinda Larasari Dewi and Izzy Dwifaivah H who finished second and in the women's 400 meters freestyle.

Adinda recorded a time of 4 minutes 25.55 seconds. Meanwhile, Izzy finished third with 4 minutes 25.63 seconds.

Both were behind swimmer from West Java Raina Saumi Grahana who won gold after posting 4 minutes 22.02 seconds.
