Fastest In The Men's 200 Meters, Zohri Wins Second Gold In Papua PON
JAKARTA - The national runner from West Nusa Tenggara, Lalu Mohammad Zohri, won the second gold medal in the men's 200-meter number in athletics at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON).
Previously, the 21-year-old athlete had won a gold medal in the men's 100-meter event which was held last Wednesday.
Launching Antara, Zohri managed to be the fastest to reach the finish line with a record time of 21.31 seconds when competing at GOR Mimika Sport Complex, Mimika, Papua, Monday.
Central Kalimantan athlete Eko Rimbawan won the silver medal with a time of 21.51 seconds, while the bronze medal was secured by Bali athlete I Dewa Made Mudiyasa after posting a time of 21.65 seconds.

The men's 200-meter PON record is still held by Purnomo Yudi Wijaya with a record time of 20.98 seconds which was scored at the 1989 PON XII Jakarta. The national record is still on behalf of Suryo Agung Wibowo with a time of 20.76 seconds which was inscribed at the 2007 SEA Games in Thailand.
Zohri appeared calm from the start of the match. Even though he seemed a bit slow at the start, the runner who was born on July 1, 2000, slowly started to race in the final 100 meters and became the leader of the race.
Meanwhile, there was stiff competition in the race for second and third place. Eko, Mudiyasa, and East Java athlete Geraldo Yehezkiel stuck to each other from the middle to the end of the race.
Zohri successfully finished first, followed by Eko and Mudiyasa. Meanwhile, Geraldo had to settle for the fourth position with a time difference of only 0.03 seconds from the runner in front of him.
Met after the match, Zohri was grateful to be able to win gold again even though his time record in the 200-meter number was not on target.
During practice, the national record holder for the 100-meter number had recorded a time of 20 seconds.
"Still grateful to Allah for running and getting a second gold in the 200 meters. Thank God I was able to donate gold for the region", he said.
Zohri hopes that in the future he can improve his performance so that he can provide the best achievements for the region and country.
