Google Doodle Commemorates National Children's Day
JAKARTA - Today Thursday 23 July is National Children's Day in Indonesia. The search engine giant Google is also celebrating with the Google Doodle.
If you open the Google home page, a Doodle will appear, which appears as if many children are playing. The colorful pictures show how the children were having fun with traditional games.
Various types of games are outlined in the Google Doodle illustration, from playing kites, boats, propellers to airplanes made of paper. They also showed their happy faces while playing.
For information, National Children's Day in various parts of the world is commemorated with varying times and dates. There are most countries celebrating on June 1 and others commemorating it on November 20.
In the country itself, National Children's Day falls on July 23 each year. National Children's Day is commemorated to respect and protect children across Indonesia.
To note, the National Children's Day was first established by the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto in 1984. He views children as assets for the progress of the nation and state.
Seeing this, Soeharto designated 23 July as Children's Day based on Presidential Decree No. 44 of 1984.
It did not stop there, the government also took part in protecting children in Indonesia by establishing the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI). This commission aims to oversee the implementation of child protection measures by the state.
