The LA Lakers wing has over 100 million followers on Instagram. This makes him the most popular American sportsman on the platform.
With that many followers, it means that LeBron has a higher total number of followers than the NBA itself. Also compared to the combined followers of all major US sports leagues.
If you add up all the Instagram followers of the NBA (60.1 million), NFL (21.7 million), NHL (4.9 million), MLB (7.9 million), MLS (2 million), and WNBA (1.2 million ), they still couldn't overthrow LeBron James.
The four-time MVP has nearly double the number of followers compared to another of the NBA's most popular stars, Steph Curry.
However, LeBron is still far from being the most followed athlete on the platform.
That special honor remains with Cristiano Ronaldo with 354 million followers.
