Woman In Denpasar Arrested For Shopping With Counterfeit Money

DENPASAR - The housewife with the initials WT (32) was arrested by the South Denpasar Police, Bali. This woman was caught spending counterfeit money (upal) in markets and stalls.

"The method is circulating counterfeit money by spending it at markets and stalls," said South Denpasar Police Chief AKP I Gede Sudyatmaja, Monday, October 11.

The action of this housewife was revealed from community reports. The perpetrators spent counterfeit money on Jalan Pulau Bungin, Gang Kertha Boga, South Denpasar.

He spent counterfeit notes of Rp. 50 thousand. After the shop owner realized that the money he received was counterfeit, the victim reported the incident to the police.

From the investigation, the police found 14 pieces of Rp100,000 denominations, Rp3,750,00 counterfeit notes with Rp50,000 denominations and original Rp20,000 bills from exchanging counterfeit money.

"The person concerned has been secured to the South Denpasar Police Headquarters for further investigation," said Sudyatmaja.
