11 Police Officers In North Sumatra Who Sell Methamphetamine From The Arrest Operation Are Threatened With Dismissal
MEDAN - North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Panca Putra Simanjuntak emphasized the ethical process against 11 police officers suspected of selling crystal methamphetamine resulting from the arrest operation. The eleven individuals were threatened with dismissal.
"They are still in their custody. Now they are still on trial, waiting for the code of ethics trial process. Hopefully, later we will take firm action against dishonorable discharge (PDTH)," said Inspector General Panca to reporters, Thursday, October 7.
Panca said the handling of cases of unscrupulous members of the police was implemented with a code of ethics and general justice.
"Especially for members of the code of ethics and general justice," said Panca.
Currently, the North Sumatra Police have transferred the case files of 14 suspects in the case of 76 kg of unclaimed methamphetamine to the Tanjungbalai District Attorney. Eleven suspects are police officers.
"The TBA State Attorney has received the delegation of phase II from the North Sumatra Police. In the second phase, 14 suspects were handed over and 11 of them were members of the police who served in Polairud and the Tanjungbalai Police Narcotics Unit," said Head of Intelligence for the Tanjungbalai District Attorney, Dedi Saragih some time ago.
Dedi said the suspects were placed in Simardan Island Prison, Tanjungbalai. The case file will be transferred to the Tanjungbalai District Court for trial.
"Furthermore, we will delegate it to the Tanjungbalai District Court for immediate trial," he said.
Based on the information gathered, the arrests of these 14 suspects stemmed from the discovery of drugs on May 19, 2021. There were 76 packs of methamphetamine found with each pack containing 1 kg of methamphetamine.
The methamphetamine was found in a ship in the waters of Sei Lunang, Sei Kepayang District, Asahan Regency. In the course of the arrest, there were 19 packs of evidence suspected of being embezzled.
Long story short, the North Sumatra Police arrested an individual from the Tanjungbalai Water Police Unit when they were about to transact with residents in Batu Bara. After being investigated, the drug evidence was part of 19 packages of methamphetamine allegedly embezzled during the arrest in Sei Lunang.
The arrest of the police officers in Batu Bara revealed the fact that there was actually 76 kg of unclaimed meth evidence that was secured in Sei Lunang. Meanwhile, what was initially reported to the Tanjungbalai Police Station was only 57 kg.
