Merchants Complain About The Permanently Closed Entrance To Kuta Beach With Bricks

BADUNG - Traders on Kuta Beach, Badung, Bali, complained about a number of entrances on Kuta Beach, which were permanently closed by the Kuta Traditional Village.

There are 17 accesses to the Kuta Beach entrance which are planned to be permanently closed using bricks. However, until now only 3 entrances have been permanently closed due to protests from local traders.

Bendesa Adat Kuta Wayan Wasista said the closure was carried out in order to make it easier for managers to supervise visitors, which has continued to increase since Kuta Beach was reopened.

However, the closure of the entrance was temporarily suspended due to protests from traders.

"It's been temporarily suspended. Because people are making noise. We actually don't close the meeting, there is still access, we don't close everything. So it won't be crowded (temporarily stopped)," Wasista said, when contacted Thursday, October 7.

Currently, only 3 doors are closed with bricks, out of a total of 31 Kuta Beach entrances.

"We have already informed the Secretary of the Regional Secretary that we cannot carry out maximum surveillance on Kuta Beach. You can't monitor Kuta beach, because we lack manpower (supervising visitors) and there are too many doors," Wasista said.

Meanwhile, one of the traders on Kuta Beach, Made Rahayu (62) said that her party did not know about the permanent closure of the door. There is no notification of closing the entrance door.

"I just arrived, how come it can be closed without notification to traders," said Rahayu.

She hoped that the door which was permanently closed with bricks would be opened again. According to Rahayu, this door makes the level of local tourist visits to be quiet.

"Before it closed, it was crowded. It was only closed two days ago," said Rahayu, who is also a resident of Kuta.
