Members Of The House Of Representatives Ask For Comprehensive Tracing Regarding The Findings Of Positive Athletes Of COVID-19 At PON PAPUA
JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the House Of Representatives, Kurniasih Mufidayati, emphasized that the emergence of COVID-19 cases in the implementation of the PON XX Papua (National Sports Week) must be taken seriously.
She asked related parties to carry out a thorough tracing of close contacts, both athletes, officials, and the PON committee who were confirmed positive. Along with the discovery of 40 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 from four clusters, namely Timika, Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, and Merauke.
"Tracing must be increased because on October 6, 29 cases were still reported. The day after that there was an addition of up to 40 cases", Kurniasih told reporters, Thursday, October 7.
"But Alhamdulillah, none of them have moderate symptoms because they have been fully vaccinated", she continued.
The PKS politician assessed that with tracing, athletes and officials must undergo centralized self-isolation if confirmed positive until they are declared cured. Before being declared cured, she said, they were not allowed to return to their area of origin.
"This is from all over Indonesia, the spirit of tracing is to ensure that when returning to their respective areas they are completely healthy and do not carry cases of transmission to their area of origin", she said.

According to her, the PON (National Sports Week) event must continue to prioritize health factors even though it is designed for coaching and national athlete achievement events. She fully supports the pursuit of achievement, but that does not mean that health is neglected.
"So there is no need to hesitate to trace all close contacts so that the treatment will be clearer later", said Kurniasih.
