6 Athletes From Bali Contingent At PON Papua Positive For COVID-19

DENPASAR - Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Bali, I Ketut Suwandi, confirmed that six athletes from the Bali contingent who participated in the XX Papua PON tested positive for COVID-19.

The six athletes underwent quarantine or centralized isolation at KM Tidar in Jayapura. They are in good condition.

"Yes, that's right and they are still isolated. They actually want to go back to Bali and have finished competing after taking the PCR test and they are declared positive", said Suwandi, when contacted, Thursday, October 7.

He explained, on Monday, October 4, athletes from Bali finished competing. The next day they were supposed to return to Bali.

However, before going home, the athletes must undergo a PCR test and the results are positive for COVID-19 without symptoms (OTG).

The plan is that the six athletes will undergo a PCR test on Saturday, October 9. If the result is negative, they will return to Bali.

“They have been treated by the health team and are in good condition. They are OTG", said Kelvin.
